Open source AI · New England and the Acela Corridor

Mass Open.
Mass AI.
Mass Community.

Growing the open source AI community across Massachusetts, New England, and the Acela Corridor — one model, meetup, and contributor at a time.

Our Mission

A commons for AI, built in the open

AI is being shaped right now — and too much of it is happening behind closed doors. Mass Open exists to make sure New England has a strong, visible, and welcoming home for open source AI.

We bring together the people who build, study, and care about open models — so the region's deep talent in research and engineering translates into technology everyone can inspect, use, and improve.

What We're About

Three things we believe in

  • Open Models

Championing open weights, open data, and reproducible research so the next wave of AI is built in the open — not behind closed doors.

  • Local Builders

Connecting engineers, founders, researchers, and students across Boston, Cambridge, and the wider New England corridor.

  • Shared Knowledge

Talks, meetups, and write-ups that turn scattered expertise into a commons everyone can learn from and build on.
